Beeconomy
Welcome to Beeconomy, the hyperrealistic imperialism simulator where you bid your subjects to perform inane actions in order to squeeze every last drop of profit out of them! Build your empire across a vast field of unclaimed land full of precious natural resources, and employ worker bees to harvest pollen and convert it into honey! Reclaim your investment by forcing your colonies to trade and taxing them exorbitant amounts when they do so! Beeconomy is truly a captivating masterpiece which perfectly models the modern capitalist society.
To get started, use WASD or the arrow keys to move around and choose a location for your first colony. Choose wisely—bees can only collect resources from the 5x5 square centered around their location. Once you place down your beehive, you should see a menu pop up. Use this menu to keep track of the colony's wealth, inventory, and current target recipe. Select a recipe that matches the surrounding materials, and soon enough they should begin to rake in the cash!
But, hold on a second—they're keeping all the money for themselves! How selfish! You worked so hard to produce that honey! In order to transfer that money into your own bank account, you're going to have to tax your colonies. In order to do this, you'll need a second colony. Try placing it in a location with some new resources, so that your two hives have different pollen in stock. Then command one of your colonies to produce something which it lacks the resources for! If a colony needs a specific type of pollen that it can't acquire, it'll begin trading with others in order to obtain it. Levy a tax on that trade, and BAM! You're rich!
You can control your empire's tax with the slider in the top left. Make sure to adjust this regularly in order to maximize your monetary gains! And that's it—there's no goal to the game besides supreme economic domination, so let loose and have fun!
How do I know if my colonies are trading?
When a trade is initiated, a bee will carry pollen to the hive which purchased it. You should see the little critters beelining straight from one colony to another with a little flower on their back. Usually, you'll see tons of these bees at once—colonies love to buy in bulk!
Just as I suspected—they aren't trading!
Common reasons for lack of economic flow include:
- Your colonies don't need to trade to produce their honey. Try changing their recipes to include some pollen that they can't acquire on their own!
- A colony is completely out of cash and can't afford to trade. Try allowing it to be self-sufficient for a little bit (ew) and beef up its wallet, so it can join in on the global economy.
- The market price for the desired pollen is higher than the pollen is worth (the bees are stupid but not that stupid)! Try lowering your tax rate to allow the price to drop!
- The colony already has an enormous surplus in their pollen, which causes them to devalue it and choose to buy it less. Try switching up their recipe so they sell some of their stock!
Oh, they're trading now. That's a lot of bees. Can I disable bee spawns to reduce the lag?
No. If your game crashes, you win!
